My 500th Blog Post

Celluloid Mistress

Been doing this blog for just under two and a half years. Thought I'd give you all a quick peak into my brain for my 500th Blog Post. It's a pen and ink drawing done on a layout pad and then scanned into photoshop for colouring. Click the image to "embiggen." ;-)

Hope you like and thanks to all and any readers who stop by... I really appreciate it.

  1. Beautiful! Love the detailed and colorful patterning, reminds me a little bit of Alfred Woelfli (example) or Hundertwasser (example)

    Congrats on reaching 500!

  2. Hi there.

Wow. I'd never heard of those two (please excuse my ignorance) but now I know that Leon's address in Blade Runner comes from the second artist's name.

I'd definitely say that the Woelfli does remind me of a younger me stylistically... while, not so much the style but the strung together vignettes style of the second does remind me of some dim, distant stuff I used to do.

    Good call.

Thanks so much for looking and commenting.

    All the best to you.

  3. Wow, totally amazing.

And congratulations to your 500th post. I am in absolutely awe at the amount of quality posts you manage to write. Really well done! I am nowhere near 500 posts yet and I started in 2007.

  4. Hi there Holger.

Thanks very much for the kind words.

As to the timescale... I think all that proves, maybe, is that I don't have a life. ;-)

Thanks for perusing and taking the time to comment.

    Much appreciated.

  5. That looks terrific! .... Congratulations on your 500th post! A wonderful accomplishment from a dedicated cinephile (child of the cinema). Look forward to your next 500! James.

  6. Hi there James.

    1. Hello there Mr. Writer!

Thanks very much for the congrats.

Much appreciated. Keep reading... more strange films coming soon!

      All the best.

  8. Hi Nuts,
Looking at your illustration It is virtually how I imagine your mind to be.
Your style is rubber-stamped on the whole image, very cool.

There could be a market for your work.

    Well done.

  9. Hi Jake,

Remember when I used to paint stuff like this back in the 1980s?

    Thanks for taking a look.

    Appreciate it.

  10. Hey again Bucko.

  12. Hey there,

Nah. It's not a wall hanger. I suspect my original black and white ink drawing is a folded or partially screwed up bit of paper somewhere... but the scanned file where I then added the colour as the next stage and tweaked some of the blacks will be saved as a file somewhere. I rarely throw anything away.

Glad you liked it and thanks for the comment, lady! x
